Born and raised in the Twin Cities I moved to Kansas City after graduating from Creighton University with a degree in English and Classical Civilization. I have worked for Saint Luke’s Health System as a Data Quality Specialist since 2001 and spend most of my time with my wife Laura and two young sons Justin and Zachary (named after Morneau and Greinke respectively). Thanks to my wife’s love for the game of baseball, which nearly matches my own, baseball is a part of our daily lives.
At the suggestion of my brother-in-law Scott, I started writing about baseball back in December of 2008. In February of 2009 I joined the FanSided.com Sports Network to cover the Kansas City Royals and remain with the to this day though my role has evolved and shifted over time.
I am now the MLB Director of Content for FanSided and serve on the leadership council of the company. It has been very rewarding to help shape the direction of our network while also managing the 100 or so writers that are currently a part of FanSided MLB. I love to write, but I’ve found that I have a talent for helping others improve their writing as an editor, peer, leader, sounding-board and sometimes mentor/peer to our staff.
While I do spend a fair amount of time in an “administrative” capacity for FanSided, I remain a writer at heart and continue to practice my craft on our network’s Minor League Baseball site, Seedlings to Stars. Since I have editorial access to all 32 of FanSided’s MLB sites my work may appear on other sites from time to time. My allegiances to the Twins and Royals naturally make Kings of Kauffman and Puckett’s Pond the two sites I am most likely to contribute to when I’m not writing for S2S.
Incidentally, my parents are thrilled that I am putting my college degree to use.
